Giving back during the holiday season

December 14, 2018 • 3 minute read

The holiday season has arrived, bringing towering light displays, festive sweaters and an underlying buzz to the city streets. But as busy as this time of year is – with end-of-year pitching and work on annual reports sandwiched between a slate of celebrations – making time to give back always remains central to the company’s holiday agenda.

Responsible, socially conscious business has always been a pillar of Infinite Global’s more than 20-year history. By staying in tune with the needs of and developments in our communities, including the cities in which we work, we are able to use our time and skills to make a positive contribution. The holiday season provides an occasion to reflect on our own good fortune and seek to give something back to these communities.

On December 13, the New York, San Francisco and Chicago offices each took time out to volunteer for local causes. The San Francisco office prepared for and served dinner at one of the city’s largest homeless shelters while the New York team delivered meals to homebound seniors.

San Francisco: St. Vincent De Paul Society

In September, United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Housing Leilani Farha issued a report calling the Bay Area’s homeless situation “cruel and inhuman” following a two-week research trip. The conditions the city’s most vulnerable populations must endure is an issue the St. Vincent De Paul Society has been tackling since 1860. Through various programs and shelters, SVDP-SF supports both the homeless and survivors of domestic violence. Infinite Global’s San Francisco office enjoyed helping SDVP-SF serve a dinner for residents of one of its shelters.

Infinite Global is also sponsoring a class through the San Francisco Bar Association’s Head Start Holiday Gift Program.

New York: Citymeals on Wheels

According to the New York City Department for the Aging, older adults are projected to reach 1.86 million – or 20.6 percent – of the city’s population by 2040, with a large percentage living alone. That’s where Citymeals on Wheels comes in. Recognizing the lack of meal access for homebound seniors on holidays and weekends, the founders of this nonprofit established a system of meal deliveries to service all five boroughs of New York City. Our New York team spent their afternoon delivering prepared meals from the Citymeals on Wheels headquarters to older people in need.
