September 26, 2024
Team Spotlight: Mark Anthony Hughes, Junior Research Analyst; Amaia Errecalde, Jocelyn Sweeney, Lauren Silver and Taleen Postian, Junior Account Executives
We recently sat down with some of the latest additions to the Infinite Global team to talk about how they are settling in and what they are most looking forward to in their new roles.
Learn more about their career journeys so far, their most memorable moments on the job and what they get up to outside of work:
What sparked your interest in public relations?
Jocelyn: After writing for my high school newspaper for a few years, I started college with the intention of becoming a journalist. During my first semester of college, I took an introductory PR course and decided I wanted to pursue a career in PR instead. I learned that PR requires many of the same skills that I enjoyed about journalism, including writing and problem-solving. The agency setting interested me immediately because of the variety of skills used and the chance to cover a lot of different industries in a fast-paced environment.
Lauren: I first learned about public relations in a business class I took at Tulane. I was a marketing major in college and loved how my classes and internships allowed me to be creative and strategic. However, I felt that marketing lacked the interpersonal connections that you develop in public relations. I loved the idea of being an intermediary between so many people and constantly having the opportunity to forge new relationships.
What aspects of PR do you love the most?
Mark: PR always presents new challenges. I like that the environment is fast-paced and keeps me up on my feet. I also like that this role gives me the ability to hone my creative and critical thinking skills.
Taleen: I love pulling together the threads of a news story and then formulating how our client can aid in the interpretation and broader understanding of that story by providing their perspective. I find this a very fun skill to cultivate.
Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your previous roles in PR?
Amaia: The very first public relations campaign I worked on built visibility for a food service program designed to provide nutritious meals to Florida’s most vulnerable populations during the summer months. Being involved in this initiative made me realize the powerful role public relations plays in connecting people and organizations around a common cause.
Mark: I started a media company when I was 17 and continued the company up until my sophomore year of university. My most memorable achievement, aside from the website’s metrics, was winning two awards for my pitch presentation in my college’s start-up accelerator club.
What’s one thing you’re excited to learn or experience in your new position?
Lauren: I am excited to learn how to quickly adapt and react to complex crisis scenarios. My new position at Infinite gives me the unique opportunity to have hands-on experience working with the agency’s industry veterans and learning from the best in crisis communications.
Amaia: Infinite Global builds industry leaders by providing employees with the tools and experiences they need to get there. I am excited for the opportunity to learn from my colleagues who are equally driven and continue to develop my identity as a leader within the agency and the broader industry.
What are some of your interests outside of work?
Amaia: I love spending my time socializing, cooking and staying active—whether it’s a walk, a hike or a modest attempt at a run.
Lauren: I love to cook and exercise. I have recently been enjoying trying new workout classes all over New York City.
Jocelyn: I moved to NYC when I started working at IG, so I spend a lot of my time exploring the city through museums, food and anything else that comes up. I love living in a place where there is always something interesting to do. When I’m at home, I enjoy cooking, baking and reading.
Mark: I love visiting art museums, galleries, watching movies, checking out new restaurants, exploring Central Park and markets in the West Village.
Taleen: I love visiting museums and historical sites.
