Navigating difficulty: communicating through complex insolvencies

BRIEF

Infinite Global worked hand-in-hand with one of the UK’s leading teams of insolvency practitioners to be the first (and last) port of call for journalists on the business restructurings and insolvencies handled by the firm, including some of the most high profile administrations and liquidations in recent UK corporate history.

Effective communications are essential during the insolvency process, with a wide range of stakeholders – employees, customers, suppliers, regulators, shareholders and capital markets – all requiring accurate and reliable information, fast.

SOLUTION

We provided an outsourced press office function tailored to the specific needs of the firm’s UK business restructuring practice, working closely with the company’s senior insolvency practitioners and award-winning in-house communications team.

We designed and implemented a system of media handling protocols to ensure crisp response to all media enquiries (across more than a dozen client offices UK-wide) and guarantee critical commercial information was gathered and disseminated to stakeholders swiftly and accurately.

Our support was available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and often involved responding rapidly to controversial breaking news, wrangling inquisitive national media correspondents, and deftly handling local scrutiny. Infinite Global was able to field a large team to service the client, to ensure sufficient capacity to manage even the most difficult and high-profile matters.

OUTCOME

We supported and advised our client during the insolvency of more than 130 businesses over a four-year period, including the collapse of some of the most high profile brands in UK sport, retail, fashion, energy and media. We continue to work with the business, having been invited by the client to support a number of additional areas of its UK operations.
